IAVCEI Awards Nomination

 

Dear IAVCEI members:

I am Setsuya Nakada, serving as the new president of IAVCEI since the Perugia meeting. The Awards Committee, chaired by me, invites
nomination for the Thorarinsson, Wager and Krafft medals and George Walker Awards for the next General Assembly (Iceland in August 2008).

*The results of committee will be noticed to the winners and references before the deadline of abstract submission for 2008 General Assembly (February 2008). The citation and acceptance speeches will be scheduled in General Assembly, and will be published in the IAVCEI newsletters.

NOMINATION RULES

 

Nomination packages for all medals and awards should include:


(1) a formal nomination letter, not to exceed three pages,

(2) a curriculum vitae, and

(3) at least three supporting letters originating from different institutions (two such letters are sufficient for the George Walker Awards).

* A document certifying the age of the candidate is needed for the Wager Medal.

* Certification of the date when the Ph.D. was awarded is needed for the George Walker Awards.

Nomination packages are due December 15, 2007 to the IAVCEI Awards Committee, c/o Setsuya Nakada (nakada@eri.u-tokyo.ac.jp, Earthquake Research Institute, University of Tokyo, 1-1-1 Yayoi, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo 113-0032, Japan). They should be sent by e-mail (as PDF or DOC documents). A single hard copy of certificates and recommendation letters should also be sent by mail.
