BOOK REVIEW EDITOR

Karoly Nemeth
k.nemeth@massey.ac.nz

The Bulletin of Volcanology publishes papers on volcanoes, their products, eruptive behaviour, and their hazards. Also welcome are papers using geochemical, petrological, and geophysical techniques aimed at understanding the deeper structure of volcanoes, their associated magma chambers, and the evolution of magmatic systems as related to eruptive processes. The Bulletin of Volcanology consists of several parts:

  1. Papers contain original and significant scientific findings that have not been published elsewhere. Papers in general should not exceed 14 printed pages, including references, tables, and illustrations (one printed page is about three DIN A4 pages, typed double- spaced). Longer contributions of exceptional quality and wide impact, as well as reviews of current topics, also will be considered for publication.
  2. Short Scientific Communications do not exceed four printed pages and should represent exciting scientific results, novel ideas, or important new information on active volcanoes. Rapid editorial decisions will be made on these communications in order to expedite publication.
  3. Forum provides for comment and reply on Papers and Short Scientific Communications, as well as publication of brief essays on controversial issues that need not relate to previously published papers. Contributions to the Forum should not exceed two printed pages.
  4. Reviews of books and videos of interest to the volcanological community will appear from time to time. An Editor requests them directly from specialists.
  5. The Summary of Recent Volcanic Activity represents a condensed version of the Global Volcanism Network Bulletin produced by the Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C. This information is transferred via electronic mail to ensure rapid publication.
  6. The Bulletin contains once a year the Bulletin of Volcanic Eruptions (as prepared and supplied by the Volcanological Society of Japan) as a free supplement.

IAVCEI Members are entitled to purchase the Bulletin of Volcanology at a special reduced print subscription price of 80€ (volume 74 or 73)(including carriage charges) for each volume (now 10 issues, 1100 pages increased from 8 issues, 880 pages) or a reduced online-only subscription for 40€.
