This Privacy Policy explains how IAVCEI, the publisher of iavcei.org (“IAVCEI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), processes information when you visit the website. It applies only to iavcei.org and not to websites, apps, or services operated by other companies.
The short version
IAVCEI is currently a static editorial website. We do not offer visitor accounts, comments, or newsletter registration. Site search runs entirely in your browser against a static index; search terms are not sent to us or stored by the search feature. We do not intentionally use analytics, advertising, or profiling cookies on the current site. Like most websites, our hosting and security infrastructure may process basic technical request data needed to deliver and protect the site.
Information we process
Server and security data
When your browser requests a page, the hosting, content-delivery, or security provider may automatically process:
- your IP address;
- browser and device type;
- operating system;
- requested page and referring page;
- date and time of the request; and
- technical and security events, such as errors or suspected abusive traffic.
We use this information to deliver the site, maintain reliability, investigate errors, prevent abuse, and protect the site and its visitors. We do not use these logs to build advertising profiles.
Information you choose to send
The current site does not collect information through forms. If you contact us by email, we process the information you include, such as your email address, name, message, and any attachments, so that we can respond and keep an appropriate record of the request.
Please do not send passwords, device data, intercepted communications, precise location records, or other sensitive information about another person.
Purposes and legal bases
Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, or a similar law applies, we rely on:
- legitimate interests to publish and secure the site, understand and resolve technical problems, prevent fraud or abuse, and protect legal rights;
- performance of a request when we respond to a message you send us;
- legal obligations when we must retain or disclose information under applicable law; and
- consent if we introduce an optional feature that legally requires it. You may withdraw consent at any time.
How we disclose information
We may disclose limited information:
- to hosting, content-delivery, security, and technical service providers that process it for us;
- to professional advisers when reasonably necessary to obtain legal, accounting, or security advice;
- to public authorities or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and site security; or
- in connection with a reorganization, transfer, or sale of the website, subject to appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell personal information. The current site does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Affiliate and third-party links
Some articles and banners link to Hoverwatch, FlexiSPY, or other external resources. If you follow an external link, the destination site receives the normal technical information involved in that request and applies its own privacy policy. An affiliate partner may also recognize the referring link and attribute a visit or purchase to IAVCEI. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.
We do not control the data practices, security, availability, prices, or content of third-party websites.
Cookies and similar technologies
The current site is designed not to set non-essential analytics or advertising cookies. Hosting or security infrastructure may use strictly necessary technologies to deliver and protect the site. External websites may set their own cookies after you follow a link. See our Cookies Policy.
If we later add non-essential cookies or similar storage, we will update this notice and, where required, ask for consent before using them.
Retention
We keep technical logs only for as long as reasonably necessary for delivery, security, troubleshooting, and legal compliance. Retention periods may vary depending on the hosting or security provider and the nature of an incident.
Email correspondence is kept for as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain business records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. We delete or anonymize information when it is no longer needed, unless the law requires longer retention.
International processing
Our providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we use or require an appropriate legal mechanism for an international transfer. Privacy protections and government-access rules may differ between countries.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and subject to legal exceptions, you may have the right to:
- request access to information about you;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- receive certain information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent; and
- complain to your local data-protection authority.
California residents may also have rights to know, delete, and correct personal information, to opt out of a sale or sharing, to limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising a right, where the California Consumer Privacy Act applies. Because the current site does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, it does not currently provide a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link.
To make a request, email privacy@iavcei.org. Describe the request and the country or state where you live. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and authority. An authorized agent may submit a request where applicable law permits it.
Children
The site is a general-audience publication and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through the site. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can assess and, where appropriate, delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the information we process. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site, our providers, or applicable requirements change. We will post the revised version here and change the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be highlighted where reasonably appropriate.
